Day 23 - Vienna

We woke very early this morning and hiked from our hotel to the train station. We didn't have much choice in the matter, since the metro was not running because of the damages caused by the August floods and the cities taxis being relatively unreliable at this time of the day. But we managed to catch our breath and catch our early morning train to Vienna. Once on the train, we relaxed, read our guide books, ate some breakfast and watch the beautiful scenery and dreary weather.

We rolled into Vienna, figured out the efficient transit system and were checked into our hotel within an hour. After depositing our luggage and freshening up, we rode the circle tram around the city to see some of the sights and get oriented. We hopped off at the Rathaus where workers were setting up a small circus/carnival in preparation for race festivities the next day. Then we headed to the modern Museum of Music. Many of the displays are very interactive, as well as educational. We really had a fun time. By the time we left it was about time for dinner. We found a very nice quiet restaurant near our hotel and we made it an early night so that we would be well rested for all the tourist activity tomorrow.
