Day 40 - Cinque Terre

Today was a relaxing day. We took the train to Vernazza and Monterosso for some souvenir shopping. Both towns have many unique shops and boutiques and we enjoyed just wandering around aimlessly.

We climbed the castle tower in Vernazza - great views! And we recognized a gentleman that we had seen in the Rick Steves' TV program on the Cinque Terre. Rick had interviewed the man discussing how Italians use hand gestures when they talk. He looked just like he did in the video footage - smoking a cigar.

After returning to Riomaggiore we had an early dinner and then sat on the rocks around the harbor to watch the sunset.

Tomorrow we leave Italy for Switzerland, the last leg of our great trip...
